The Hamptons Of France Welcomes Normandy’s First Guerlain Spa & Boutique
Designed in collaboration with Blink Design Group, whose global clients include One&Only Resorts, Nobu, Banyan Tree and Orient Express, the spa, inspired by the sea air and coastal light, is one of the Barrière Group’s and Guerlain’s most ambitious wellness projects to date. ‘We had a spa before, but nothing compared to this,’ says spa manager Claire. ‘The two maisons [Guerlain and Le Normandy] are very synergistic.’
In fact, Guerlain’s relationship with Normandy began more than two centuries ago when Pierre-Francois-Pascal Guerlain commissioned a local glassworks company to create the famous eau de cologne Impériale bottle as a wedding gift for Empress Eugénie, wife of Napoléon III, in 1853. Decorated with 69 gilded imperial bees, the bottle not only established a longstanding manufacturing partnership but put the bee motif – symbol of the French Empire – at the heart of the house.
