Located in one of Shanghai’s most desirable residential neighbourhoods is the Capella Shanghai Hotel, a collection of luxury villas and residences, offering an urban retreat for discerning guests.

Capella Shanghai Jian Ye Li

China

Originally built during the 1930s, Jian Ye Li estate is now the last remaining cluster of shikumen townhouses in the Xuhui District. To preserve and evolve this notable site, the interior design naturally develops from the heritage and character of this historic site.

This large scale project covered the design of 55 shikumen villas, 40 luxurious serviced residences, the Auriga spa and French restaurant – le Comptoir de Pierre Gagnaire. The elegant interiors embrace the fusion of classic Chinese elements and 19th-century French flair, transporting guests to the romance of early 20th-century Shanghai when it was known as the Paris of the East.
